Without Under Wear Looking

Music

Those who know me know that I could not do a blog without talking about music at one time or another ...

Before landing in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso is the only artist I knew was Victor Demetrius . Paradoxically, it is better known here in France, where he enjoys a good distribution (including at FNAC), that there. This the bluesman Ali Farka Toure is from Bobo-Dioulasso, the second largest city, and sings in Dioula, so it is not understood by the majority of Ouagalais, speaking Moore. However, the video for her song "Djon Maya begins to be broadcast on television in Burkina Faso.

Burkinabe music is a mixture of many things: music very Ivorian dance (dance known is the "coupé décalé" and the latest dance craze is the "broken shoulder"), reggae, hip hop, Mali impregnated Kora (instrument stringed West African, one teacher is the Malian Toumani Diabate , you can listen here ). We also sometimes feel Cuban or Creole influences. I let the experts discuss the links between African music and music of the descendants of African slaves in these islands ...

The tube cartons currently in Ouagadougou is the artist Floby and is entitled "Kardjatou. Needless to say he is dancing, even if the artist can also be quieter songs. He sings it in Moore. Other popular artists: Bil Aka Kora , which I admired the excellent guitarist in concert (with another group), Ismo Vitalo (the latter because of reggae). Personally I like also Alif Naaba and Pacific Messengers (reggae band well paced).
